New foundations of fashion spread throughout Australia during the 1960's. Fashio changed from being conservative to a more carefree look. The change in fashion also protrayed the social and political upheaval in Australia as the role of each individual women grew in society. The British were one of the more major influences in Australian fashion and affected the change in outfits during the early 1960's. Australian fashion was altered by the American and British influences such as the Beatles and the media. Through interntational magazines, television, models and designer lines many Australians began to look up in London and America for new fashion ideas. The domination of youth culture was thoroughly reflected through fashion idea. Many older ideas and convention from the past were altered and dismissed with brighter and bolder designs, the line between gender and formality of fashion was also altered diring the 1960's. Fashion in the 1960s also changed through the years when new fabrics such as PVC, artificial fur and dyed fabrics were promoted through the newly invented technology. As new fashion ideas were made, the 1960's became a more pronounced decade in which will influence the future generation in the world and Australia. The outfits and fashion points from the 60's are still well known today such as the miniskirt.
As more new views on fashion increased by the post-war generation, they adopted fashion habits towards British and American celebrities such as the Beatles and models from London who were on the fashion runway. A significant amount of people from the western countries such as Australia had a higher percentage of people consisted of the younger generation (under the age of twenty-five).
